Executive leaders learn and collaborate at NPQEL residential conference

In September, executive leaders of schools and trusts joined a two-day conference in Nottingham, organised by EDT, as part of their NPQ in Executive Leadership (NPQEL).

The NPQEL programme supports school leaders who are, or aspire to be, an executive headteacher or have a CEO role within a school trust with responsibility for leading several schools. The event was led by Dr Jim Rogers, NPQEL Programme Director and National Partnerships Advisor. Dr Rogers said,

“Our first NPQEL residential formed an important part of the delivery of the Executive Leader programme. Not only was it two days of teaching, focusing on ‘Leading Improvement at Scale' and ‘Leading Change at Scale’, but it was also integral to building a collaborative network of executive leaders through this national programme.

“The sessions were designed to provoke thought and discussion, challenge thinking and bring the theory to life. It was a real pleasure to meet everyone in person and the feedback for the event was fantastic!”

Guest speakers included:

  • David Moran (Former CEO at E-Act)
  • Mark Emmerson (CEO at City of London Academies Trust and National Behaviour Advisor for the Department for Education)
  • Maggie Farrar CBE (former Director of Leadership Development at NCSL and Executive Coach)
  • David Horn (former CEO of the Beckfoot Trust)
  • Nicole Ponsford (Co-Founder of Global Equality Collective)
  • Astrid Korin (Executive Coach and former Head of Consultancy at EDT)
  • Dr Nicky Platt (Lead Education Advisor at EDT)
