St Andrews School

St Andrew's in Rochester, Kent, is a co-educational non-selective school for children from 3 to 11. It was founded in 1951 with clear and simple aims: to offer an affordable education with the emphasis on the ‘three Rs’ – reading, writing and arithmetic – and to promote traditional values.

Under the proprietorship of Education Development Trust, which acquired the school in 1999, St. Andrew’s has flourished and has held dear its values – even though society may have changed around it. The school is renowned for its excellent pastoral care and its unfailing and outstanding success in placing pupils at prestigious grammar schools.

Enthusiastic staff and learners

St Andrew's has a very happy, family atmosphere. The enthusiasm of staff for the children to have high aspirations and to be successful creates a stimulating environment that is conducive to learning. The school's aim is to develop well-rounded, enthusiastic learners who will make a strong contribution to their senior schools both as good citizens and as pupils who are prepared to work hard in order to achieve success.

St Andrew's School is highly successful in meeting its aims in providing a high quality all-round education in a challenging and stimulating environment and a caring atmosphere. Pupils' achievement is excellent, because of the school's thorough emphasis on literacy and numeracy and the consistently high quality of teaching in these areas. Their attainment is above national expectations and they make good progress. Children in the EYFY make a strong start to their education as a result of outstanding provision for meeting their needs and promoting their wellbeing.

Testimonials

The last five and a half years at St. Andrew's have seen my daughter grow in every aspect of her character and you and your staff must take much credit for this. She has thoroughly enjoyed her time at St Andrew's and has had many opportunities to experience and learn new skills. She is ready to attend RGS in September because she is prepared from her time at St Andrew's. May I thank you and your staff for all your help, encouragement, guidance and hard work over the last five and a half years.
