About CfBT Schools Trust

CfBT Schools Trust is based around geographical clusters of schools, working together to achieve excellence. Partnership, peer review and evidence-informed practice are at the heart of our schools, where continuous learning and development for all means every child can flourish.

Who we are

CfBT Schools Trust is a multi-academy trust of 11 primary and five secondary academies and free schools. Education Development Trust is a member of CfBT Schools Trust, and is our principal sponsor, holding trustees to account for the delivery of school improvement. We are separate organisations – legally and organisationally – but share the same values and moral purpose.

What matters to us

CfBT Schools Trust aims to transform lives by improving education. Our mission is to ensure that every child and young person becomes a confident learner, understanding the contribution they can make as global citizens and living lives that make a positive difference.

At CfBT Schools Trust we inspire, challenge and support our leaders and teachers to make every lesson count. We work collaboratively, sharing 'what works' in our teaching and learning practice and together making our schools the very best they can be.

Our work is built on four values that we share with our principal sponsor Education Development Trust:
Excellence in learning outcomes, with an acknowledgement that this comes in many forms.
Integrity in the way we build trust and bring purpose to our work as an education charity.
Accountability through the rigorous and transparent assessment of our performance.
Collaboration in the way we take collective responsibility for each other and for the way we work together to achieve our overarching vision.
These values shape the way we work with individual schools, as well as the way the schools work with each other, to try to provide the best possible start in life for all our learners.

Our story

CfBT Schools Trust was set up by Education Development Trust in January 2011 to channel its wealth of school improvement expertise directly into the classrooms of a group of schools under the umbrella of a multi-academy trust.
Not only were we at the forefront of setting up England's first wave of free schools, we also work with schools that have converted to academy status as well as those that have been put into special measures by Ofsted.

CST is shaped by a diverse mixture of people, places and priorities - which all add to the richness of Education Development Trust's global family.
