Accelerate is a brand new, evidence-based professional development programme specifically designed for teachers in the first five years of their careers.

We have designed Accelerate to provide targeted, specialist support to early career teachers – and in particular, those working in schools that are Ofsted graded category 3 or 4 in DfE identified 'priority' or 'opportunity' areas. The programme's aim is to fast-track teaching skills in order to improve student attainment and keep talented teachers within the profession. Accelerate is funded by the Department for Education and we have developed the programme in partnership with the Chartered College of Teaching; it is free of charge to teachers from eligible schools.

Evidence-informed professional development

Built around professional development models that are the most effective in improving teacher practice and student outcomes, Accelerate incorporates expert instructional coaching, deliberate practice, and high-quality, evidence-informed content delivered through a flexible and tailored blended learning model.

The Accelerate programme commences in Spring term 2019 with teachers receiving their formal induction to the programme and access to online activities and learning content. Specialist Instructional Coaches will support participants on a 1:1 basis throughout the four-term programme.
