Careers services for schools

We have a first-rate track record, delivering high quality careers services for schools, colleges and others for more than 20 years. Through our evidence-informed practice we help to bridge the gap between education, training and the world of work for young people.

How we help schools and colleges

We offer a range of high quality careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) services supporting schools to:
•    meet their statutory requirements to provide independent, impartial careers advice and guidance;
•    meet priorities such as raising student motivation, attainment, retention and attendance;
•    help ensure students progress to positive destinations and are prepared for successful transition from school into work or further learning;
•    meet Ofsted expectations on CEIAG and provide supporting evidence; and
•    align CEIAG provision with relevant policy agendas, such as London Ambitions and the Gatsby benchmarks.

Careers IAG and employability skills sessions

Our advisers deliver one-to-one interviews, group careers and employability skills workshops, parents evenings and tailored transition support for vulnerable students and those with Special Educational Needs. Our young people’s guidance teams delivered more than 70,000 interventions in the last three years. In 2016, 97% of students rated our interventions as ‘excellent’ or ‘good’.

Supporting schools with careers provision

Our specialist consultants provide careers curriculum expertise and CPD that supports schools and colleges to assess, plan and develop their CEIAG strategy and provision and to achieve the Quality in Careers Standard through Investor in Careers.

Experiencing the world of work

Our Inspiring Encounters work-related learning team support schools and colleges to provide students with ‘experiences of work’ including employer visits, mock interviews, careers events and our end-to-end work experience placement programme. We maintain a database of more than 3,500 employers and recognise the importance of effective and proactive partnership with schools and employers in delivering our services. We arranged more than 5,000 work experience placements for students in the last 3 years. We hold the Fair Train Work Experience Gold Standard.

Tracking and data reporting services

We provide expert tracking and data management services to local authorities to help them meet the Department for Education’s reporting requirements. We have supported local authorities to achieve some of the lowest NEET (young people not in education, employment or training)/Not Known figures and highest participation rates nationally.

Our approach to delivering impactful careers services

We know how to deliver high quality careers information, advice and guidance. Our advisers are qualified to Level 6 minimum and provided with comprehensive CPD and excellent support from dedicated labour market intelligence, quality assurance and digital and social media specialists.

In all our work, we demonstrate our belief in evidence-informed practice. Our approach is supported by our body of research in the field, such as Employer engagement in education.

With a successful track record over 20 years we are established experts in the careers sector. Partnership working (with schools, young people and parents, employers, training providers, colleges, universities and others) is central to our programmes. We work collaboratively with senior leaders and careers leads to ensure services provided are right for their school.

We allocate each school a dedicated contract manager and act on feedback to shape services and ensure high standards. We recognise the financial pressure on schools and offer significant added value.
