UK Director Matt Davis shares his thoughts on filling the UK teacher gap: keeping the new guard in post.

As UK Director at Education Development Trust, a former teacher, manager and researcher in primary, secondary, further and higher education as well as special school and pupil referral units, Matt Davis is well acquainted with the landscape of education in the UK – and the challenges faced.

He has been sharing his thoughts with Reform UK on how to address the teacher shortage – looking not at the recruitment of new teachers but rather how to make sure the new guard stay in post. Stark stats show that nearly a third of new teachers leave the profession within five years so what can be done to make sure that the bright and brilliant stay on to fulfil their role of shaping future generations.
