London CLC and the Philharmonia Digital Leaders Day

26 September 2016

Education Development Trust's London CLC is delighted to be working in partnership with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Southbank Centre and the Tate Exchange in London to deliver a series of digital enrichment days which allow young people to get hands on experience of new technologies, and develop their understanding of the creative application of technologies in a real world context.

The CLC Digital Leader Programme supports children and young people who have taken on a role championing the use of digital technologies among their peers, teachers and parents. Our intensive events help upskill pupils both in the use of new technologies and in their role as mentors and leaders. Education Development Trust's award winning London CLC helps schools and other settings use digital technologies to improve learning. On Monday, 26 September, the programme launches at the Southbank Centre, where 50 children from six London schools will have the opportunity to explore The Philharmonia Orchestra's new interactive exhibition Universe of Sound. Students will get the opportunity to stand in the conductor's shoes and lead a full orchestra through the 360 virtual reality experience and will immerse themselves in Holst's 'The Planets' through an interactive sound installation. Tutors from London CLC will be running workshops helping students to create their own 3D worlds using programming software Kodu and an outer-space themed green screen film set.

Future Digital Leader opportunities will encompass intensive days at the TATE gallery as part of the TATE exchange programme, a programming challenge at IBM and the chance for digital leaders to work with a professional film maker to create an e-safety film for their school's website.
