Achieving Sustainable Development Goals

04 January 2016

Changing social attitudes, increasing economic empowerment, increasing access to services - all vital elements in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Changing social attitudes, increasing economic empowerment, increasing access to services - all vital elements in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Many small to medium sized organisations (SMEs) are well placed with their specific expertise to further these goals.

Education Development Trust plays a role in ensuring grant funding is well spent by the SMEs. The UK Department for International Development (DFID) launched a £150 million grant funding mechanism in 2010, to award grants for projects to run up to 3 years duration with the focus on reducing poverty - so far in  the sub-Asian, Saharan Africa and Asia/Pacific regions.

Our remit at Education Development Trust includes reviewing proposals for the 2016 funding round on education-related projects as well as monitoring and providing technical and other support for existing projects. Our project risk manager is able to draw on the expertise and field experience of our advisors experienced in working in low and middle-income countries. We and our partners from other sectors work with managing partners Mannion Daniels.

For more information on the project see the International Development Funding page for UK Aid Direct here.
