National Careers Service

Education Development Trust is an established authority on careers advice and guidance in the UK and internationally. We deliver the National Careers Service in England in the north-east and south-central regions.

The context

 

Education Development Trust has been delivering the National Careers Service contract for the north-east of England for the past 12 years, and in 2014 was awarded the contract for the south-central regions of England. The service is available free to every adult aged 19 and over, and aims to:

  • Help with careers decisions and planning
  • Support in reviewing skills and abilities, and develop new goals
  • Help to motivate and implement a plan of action
  • Provide high quality career related tools to enable users to make the best use of them

Working together we support people to realise their potential and achieve positive work and learning outcomes.

Our team of qualified and experienced careers advisors carry out more than 100,000 information, advice and guidance sessions each year, helping more than 70,000 people to make informed decisions about their next steps in learning, skills and work.

Through our delivery of face-to-face and virtual careers information and advice for adults and young people, including advice on skills, qualifications and training, combined with our design and delivery of regional programmes of support, training and quality assurance, working with employers, training organisations and colleges, we have been able to provide a careers service which is underpinned by Education Development Trust's core values.
