EdDevTrust at the Global Education Summit

We were delighted to participate in the Global Education Summit on 28th July 2021, providing insights for one of the four key sessions: Financing for Impact.

The Global Education Summit took place on Wednesday 28th July in London, co-hosted by the UK and Kenya, with a focus on financing the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) for 2021-2025. The summit raised a record US$4 billion for GPE from donors, while 19 heads of state and goverment also committed to spending at least 20 percent of their national budgets on education.

EdDevTrust has been proud to support this important summit, which follows not only worldwide disruption to education systems due to Covid-19, but also the so-called Kenyatta Declaration – in which Kenyan President Kenyatta called on GPE partner countries to prioritise education financing, which will be critical to successful recovery from the pandemic.

We were delighted that our Head of Research, Anna Riggall, took the stage at one of the four sessions, Financing for Impact, in a short video produced by our team, highlighting the critical importance of evidence, efficiency and equity in education financing.

You can watch the video here and read our pre-summit report, The role of evidence in the improvement of school systems, here.
