Ed Dev selected as a lead provider for the national rollout of the Early Career Framework in England

We are delighted to report that Education Development Trust has been selected by the Department for Education as a lead provider for the national rollout of the Early Career Framework, supporting early career teachers across England.

The Early Career Framework (ECF) is a structured two-year package of high-quality professional development for newly qualified teachers, which forms a central tenet of the government’s teacher recruitment and retention strategy. The ECF sets out what all early career teachers should learn during the first two years of their careers, on topics including behaviour management, pedagogy, curriculum, assessment and professional behaviours.  

Following our successful participation in the early rollout of the ECF, launched in 2020, we are delighted to be a lead provider as it begins its national rollout in September 2021.  

Our Early Career Professional Development Programme is designed to follow Initial Teacher Training, offering the essential specialist support needed to improve new teachers’ practice and build their confidence and resilience, leading to better job satisfaction and retention. Through our programme, early career teachers are able to learn valuable skills they can use in the classroom and access structured support to help them be the best teachers they can be.  

We are offering evidence-based and highly impactful professional development pathways for early career teachers and their mentors which will make a tangible impact on classroom practice, school culture and ultimately, pupil outcomes.   

We will be partnering with a number of school Delivery Partners across England who will ensure the programme is carefully tailored to the needs of schools in their area. We have also partnered with  leading national and international organisations so  that participants benefit from the best of real practice, supported by the latest thinking from leading education researchers. We are continuing our partnership with Sheffield Hallam Institute of Teaching, as well as The Bell Foundation and IRIS connect.
